Every 3rd Saturday of the month, a Gangotri Family hosts a Bhajan Sandhya (in person) led by our beloved Swami Sharananandaji and Shri Dhirenji. This is open to ALL families.

Gangotri Bhajan Sandhyas are held once a month on a rotation at a member's residence. Chinmaya Mission Chicago's resident acharya, Swami Sharananandaji, graciously attends the Bhajan sandhyas and blesses the host family and the attendees with his satsangs and blessings.  It is a wonderful way to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, or any milestone event in your life.

However, in these unprecedented times, Bhajan Sandhyas have also shifted online and our members have continued to host on rotation. See the structure below- Please attend them, sign up to sing if you wish or just participate and enjoy the peace and serenity that devotional singing creates in our mind.

What to expect from Bhajan Sandhya:

  • A festive atmosphere to bring Gangotri members together where everyone is encouraged to participate, regardless of age or musical background.

  • Expose children to music, rhythm, and languages in a serene environment for families to come together in devotion and shared culture.

  • Dhirenji will kick off the event with stories from the Ramayana which will be a fun way to engage children.

  • Swami Sharanananda’s vision is that Gangotri Bhajan Sandhyas should be led by kids as done at other CM Center(s). To facilitate this vision - we have created audio recordings for all Bhajan Sandhya Shlokas and have posted below.

  • The Shlokas (the invocation prayers and concluding prayers) are not lead and follow. We will be chanting the Shlokas in the order one after another.

  • Only the bhajans are lead and follow. And, we suggest someone from the same family to lead as well as follow the Bhajan to avoid frequent switching of microphones and screen.

  • If you have signed up to lead a bhajan, then please keep track of the order and unmute yourself only when your turn arrives.
